The Anambra State Police Command has successfully apprehended a 28-year-old suspected drug dealer, identified as Chinedu Nwankwo, following an intelligence-led patrol operation. The arrest was made along the Nteje-Otuocha Road in Anambra East Local Government Area, where operatives of the Rapid Response Team intercepted Nwankwo while he was allegedly transporting a large quantity of illicit substances.

According to a press statement released on Saturday by the police command's spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the seized drugs included significant amounts of Cannabis Sativa, Methamphetamine, and Colorado (commonly referred to as Colos). The estimated street value of the substances recovered is approximately ₦5.8 million, underscoring the scale of the operation and the impact on illegal drug supply chains within the region.

The suspect was reportedly en route to several areas including Otuocha, Anyamelium, Nzam, Umuleri, and Aguleri. This arrest marks a significant victory in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking in Anambra State. The police command has assured the public that operations targeting drug dealers and other criminal elements will be intensified in the coming months, leveraging community intelligence and enhanced patrol strategies.

The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities to aid in the timely apprehension of offenders. The Anambra State Police Command reiterates its dedication to fostering a safer environment for all residents and stakeholders within the state.
