Delta State Police Arrest Suspects, Seize Weapons in Ndokwa West Operations
Delta State Police arrested two suspects and recovered firearms, ammunition, and dangerous weapons in intelligence-led raids in Ndokwa West LGA.
The Delta State Police Command has successfully apprehended two suspects and confiscated an arsenal of weapons during targeted intelligence-led operations within the state. These activities underscore the commitment of the Command to curbing violent crimes and enhancing community safety across Delta State.
Operatives from the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) alongside the Command Anti-Cult Unit conducted coordinated raids in Obiaruku and Isupe Community, both located in the Ndokwa West Local Government Area. The operations led to the recovery of two pump-action guns, 18 live cartridges, four daggers, a battle axe, and other dangerous items.
According to an official statement released on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, in Asaba, the VCRU acted swiftly following credible intelligence received about illegal possession of firearms. On September 12, 2026, officers stormed a residence in Obiaruku where the suspect was reportedly harboring the weapons and ammunition.
The concerted effort by specialized police units highlights the strategic approach taken by the Delta State Police Command in tackling violent crime and cult-related activities. These operations not only disrupt the circulation of illegal weapons but also serve as a deterrent to criminal elements within the communities.
SP Bright Edafe emphasized the importance of community collaboration with law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and security. He encouraged residents to continue providing timely intelligence that aids in preventing crime and safeguarding lives and properties.
The recovered weapons and ammunition have been secured as evidence for further investigation, and the suspects are currently in custody, facing prosecution under relevant Nigerian laws. The Delta State Police Command reaffirmed its resolve to pursue all leads and intelligence that contribute to the eradication of violent crime and the promotion of public safety across the state.
These operations are part of ongoing efforts by the Delta State Police to strengthen law enforcement presence and enhance the effectiveness of crime prevention strategies, particularly in areas prone to cultism and violent criminal activities.
Residents of Ndokwa West and adjoining communities are urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly. The Delta State Police Command remains dedicated to ensuring a safe environment conducive for social and economic development.
