Kaduna State Forms Committee to Resolve KASU Staff Demands

The Kaduna State Government has taken significant steps to address ongoing concerns raised by the Kaduna State University (KASU) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other staff unions. In response to persistent welfare and working condition issues, the government has constituted a nine-member committee tasked with negotiating and resolving the outstanding demands of the university's academic and non-academic staff.

This move comes after ASUU-KASU recently issued a two-week ultimatum to both the state government and university management, demanding the implementation of various unresolved requests. The ultimatum underscored the urgency of addressing welfare challenges and other critical issues affecting the academic workforce at KASU.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Kaduna State Government has also approved the immediate payment of N300 million as Earned Academic Allowance to the university’s academic staff.
